Welcome to Brenda Drake’s THIEF OF LIES Character Tour kick off! Each stop will feature a character profile from book one of the Library Jumpers Series! Bastien was one of my most favored characters from Thief of Lies, his humor and compassion towards Gia and the events that unfolded was amazing. It was fun not only reading but connecting with him as a character. I hope everyone enjoys finding out a little more about him.

~Thief of Lies Character Tour — Bastien~

  ~ Bastien Renard~

Age: 18, Novice Wizard Description: High wizard’s son, good looking, somewhat arrogant, and compassionate.

Bastien is the “rock star” of the Mystik world. He was born in the France haven of Couve. His father is the high wizard. Bastien is a novice wizard and about to turn a senior wizard. He’ll become a master wizard when he’s twenty-five and has been tagged for high wizard consideration. His people love him and want him to receive this appointment. Gia and Bastien are connected by a promise made when they were born. Bastien confuses Gia—at times, he’s arrogant, yet his people love him and he shows kindness to them. He faces tragedy with strength and a sense of duty. We can’t help but wonder what’s up with him and how he’ll handle the situation he faces in book two.

I yanked open the door and searched the hall.
Nothing.
I flew across the hall and pounded on Bastien and Nick’s door. Bastien stood in the doorframe, his undershirt off, pants unbuttoned, and toothbrush hanging from his mouth.
“What’s the matter?” he said around foamy paste.
“Um …” My eyes scanned his bare chest. “Um . . .” I couldn’t speak so I held out the card.

  ~About the Author~

Brenda Drake, the youngest of three children, grew up an Air Force brat and the continual new kid at school until her family settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brenda’s fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother’s animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would choose to write young adult and middle grade novels with a bend toward the fantastical. When Brenda’s not writing or doing the social media thing, she’s haunting libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops or reading someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).
