LL & A's Monthly book tag~ September

Welcome back to Alexis from I'M MAD FOR BOOKS, LUV and mine monthly book tag.  I know that it has been some time since the last, but I am glad to me posting this meme yet again!

Every month we thought it would be fun to come up with a theme and to go along with that chosen theme, a tag. However it wouldn't be just your average tag, the questions would relate to books which in the end will also relate back to our theme for that month. So I guess you could call it a book tag.
To see the officially launch page click here

We welcome anyone to join. If you do participate, we ask that you notify one of us via My Twitter or Alexis's Twitter, or by commenting on either of our posts with the link to how you did this book tag. In doing so it allows us to add the link to your book tag to that months book tag post on our blogs. We also ask that you somehow link back to us as well.

 This Months theme is:
Back to School

~Questions~

1. What's your favourite YA novel that is set in a high school?
I don't know if this counts, however though Splintered does take place in high school as well as the wonderland A.G. created. SOO I am going to have to go with Splintered.

2. A middle-grade novel you still love today?
I didn't read as a kid or pre-teen. I actually hated it due to a teacher. It's crazy to think about but I barely use to read, let alone enjoy books. So I don't have and cherished middle-grade novels I read from back then. :(

3. What was one of your favourite forced reads so far in or from High school?
To Kill A Mocking Bird is by far my FAVOURITE forced read. I remember being so scared to read it at first, thinking that I would not enjoy it because it was for a class assignment. It ended up being one of my favourites to this day.

4. A novel a teacher recommended to you? (and/ or a friend)
April Raintree, it wasn't per say a recommendation but it was definitely a book the teacher spoke highly of and one I ended up checking out

5. A book that's made you have a book hangover
Um there have definitely been a couple of books that have caused me to stay up way passed my bedtime, however the two books that come to mind that actually caused me to get no sleep whatsoever were The One by Kiera Cass and Air Awakens by Elise Kova

6. How many books did you read over the summer?
I know my grand total was around 36 books, which was actually saddening to find out because I had hoped to get most of my reading done during the summer.

7. What's a book you've read during class?
I am so guilty of reading Blackheath by Gabriella Lepore during my biology class. It was just so good and I needed to devour it.

8. A classic novel you disliked but had to read?
I am going to have to day Lord of the Flies. I took a lot out of this book, but I think all the dissecting we did in class ended up putting me over the edge, and totally not in a good way.

9. Which character from any book would you want to attain school with?
I would so want Rhys from the ACOTAR series. I feel like he would always make class fun and he would definitely think up creative ways to skip class, or give me reason to skip class.

10. If you could make your class read one novel of your choosing what would you choose?
This question actually took me some time to think about. I wanted to choose a YA read that spoke to me as a reader, and wasn't just a book that made me fangirl to the max. I wanted a book that is rather new to the society but that it could still hold it's own while being compared to the classics. I never came to a conclusion so I was wondering...

What is a book you believe teachers should make their students read that was written rather recently?

ARC Review~ Labyrinth Lost

~Review~

Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova had a lot of potential. I fell in love with the idea of Alice in Wonderland mixed in with a little bit of Limbo filled me with excitement. Now I won't say that this book was terrible, I did still enjoy it but I felt like it didn't live up to the potential it could've. There were aspects I really enjoyed, but their were some that threw me off.
